Invitation to all TCE Volunteers

   In an effort to thank you for all of your hard work this year and for your willingness to support the students at Turner Creek Elementary School, the TCE PTA invites you to attend our End-Of-Year Volunteer Reception.  Drinks and refreshments will be served.  On behalf of the Board, we hope that you all can make it!

 What: TCE Volunteer Reception

When: June 13, 2012

Where: Media Center
Time: 6:30pm

   A preview of open positions for the coming year will be available at the general meeting following the reception. During the general meeting we will highlight accomplishments of the 2011-2012 academic year and discuss planning for the year to come. 

Flip Flop Troubles

   We have had many pairs of flip flops break during the school day.  If you send your child to school wearing flip flops, please try to send them with a second pair of BACKUP shoes.  We do not have many spare shoes and we cannot always fix the broken shoes.  Please keep in mind that students need to have shoes on at all times. So if we do not have any extra shoes we will need to call someone to bring new shoes.

Tracks 3 and 4 Field Day

Tracks 3 and 4 Field Day sign ups have begun.  Field Day is June 15th.  Please keep this date open on your calendar.  We will need many volunteers to make this a success.  Sign up genius is available   www.signupgenius.com/go/4090C45A5AB2E5-field and a flyer will go out to the children this week.   We want to make this day fun and exciting for the children and cannot do it without your help.  Any questions please email Marie Guinan at Meguinan5@yahoo.com

From the Health Room

   This is a reminder for students who require medications while at school or who need emergency medications to be available for them at school.

You will need to obtain a NEW 1702 form for the 2012-2013 school year.  Medications will not be dispensed unless this form has been provided to the Health Room.

If you have already received this form for the new school year, please bring it to the office.

Lost and Found

   There are many, many items in Lost and Found.  Please check the pictures at the website below.  All remaining items will be donated to Goodwill at the end of the school year.

TCE NEWS

 

PLEASE be extra cautious when driving in and out of the school property.  Drive SLOW and use caution when turning into the driveway.  Speeding into school is not worth the potential injury to those in the crosswalk.  The entrance to TCE's driveway is only monitored by a few parent volunteers. We are asking parents who can assist with this, to send your name, contact info & availability to tcevolunteers@gmail.com.  We are in need of volunteers to safely cross our children to and from school.  It only takes less than HALF AND HOUR of your time, per shift.  Harmony parents, if you are walking your child to school, please consider helping out and ensuring the safety of ALL our precious children.

Do you like to plan events or throw parties? Did you like seeing school plays as a kid? Do you want to become more involved at school but aren't sure what you want to do? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then we might have the position for you!  The PTA is looking for a Co-Chairperson for the United Arts Program for the upcoming school year.  The United Arts Chairperson coordinates supplementary arts programming for Turner Creek.  Past programs include artist in residence, writer in residence, and school plays. This is a fun and exciting role within the PTA. If you are interested in learning more about the role or what the United Arts program is, please contact Suzanne Gifford, Arts Chair (sgifford@nc.rr.com) or Kelly Elg, VP Programs (kelg@nc.rr.com).

Please send in any Box Tops that you have collected.  They have expiration dates, and many of them will be expiring over the summer months.  They will be mailed in soon,  so please send them to school with your child next week.  Thank you.

Attention parents of 5th graders:  We currently have record of only a few students in the fifth grade who have received the Tdap vaccination.  This is a vaccine that is required for all rising 6th graders.  If you have not yet done so, please make an appointment with your child’s health care provider to receive this vaccination.  Please provide a copy of your child's immunization record to the TCE office so that it can be recorded in the computer.
