A Note from Wake County Public Schools:

The Wake County Board of Education would like parents of all current and incoming students to complete a survey about the choice selection process for 2012-13 school assignments. The questions will take you only five to 10 minutes to complete, and the results will help the board and district to make decisions and better serve our families.

You can take the survey online by following the links at (school website) or www.wcpss.net/feedback/surveys. We also have paper copies of the survey in our office. Whether you participated in choice process or choose to keep your pre-assignment for next year, we want your input. Please take the survey!

Wednesday, June 13th from 6:30-7:00pm in the Media Center, the TCE PTA Board will host a special Volunteer Appreciation Reception followed by a General PTA Meeting. If you have volunteered at the school this year in any capacity or simply joined the PTA this year, we want to thank you with a Volunteer Appreciation Reception!

Anyone interested in joining the PTA for the 2012-2013 academic year is also welcome to attend. A special preview of open positions for the coming year will be available at the General Meeting. During the General Meeting we will highlight accomplishments of the 2011-2012 academic year and discuss planning for the year to come.

Tracks 3 and 4 Field Day

Field Day is June 15th.  We have had an overwhelming response to Tracks 3 and 4 Field Day.  Thank you in advance. We want to make this day fun and exciting for the children. We are in need of a few coolers. If you have a cooler we could borrow for Field Day,  please email me at the email address below.  It would be appreciated. Volunteering for 2012-2013

If you have registered for volunteering during the 2011-2012 school year, you will need to reactivate your status starting July 6.  If you do this from July 6 – October 31it will not require a background check so it will automatically go through.  The volunteer site will be open daily during this time.  If you wait until after October 31, it will require a background check and the site will only be open on Mondays starting November 5.  Registering to be a volunteer is NOT the same as signing in at the office.  The office system is ONLY a visitor management system not a volunteer registration system.

Lost and Found

All Drivers & Carpoolers

PLEASE be extra cautious when driving in and out of the school property, drive SLOWLY and use caution when turning into the driveway.  Speeding into school is not worth the potential injury to those in the crosswalk.  Only a few parent volunteers monitor the entrance to TCE’s driveway. We are asking parents who can assist with this to send your name, contact information and availability to tcevolunteers@gmail.com.  We are in need of volunteers to safely cross our children to and from school.  It only takes less than HALF AN HOUR of your time, per shift.  Harmony parents, if you are walking your child to school, please consider helping out and ensuring the safety of ALL our precious children. 

From the Health Room

This is a reminder for students who require medications while at school or who need emergency medications to be available for them at school.  You will need to obtain a NEW 1702 form for the 2012-2013 school year.  Medications will not be dispensed unless this form has been provided to the Health Room.   If you have already received this form for the new school year, please bring it to the office.

Chair Positions Needed for 2012-2013

The PTA is currently looking to fill a few more chair positions for the 2012-2013 school year.  Please consider volunteering to help the PTA with these important jobs.

 

NEWSLETTER COPYING - Copy weekly Ribbit Report and put in mail slots for Friday Folders

BUILDING AND GROUNDS - Co-ordinate beautification day, if needed and tent to front planter flowers

ART ASSISTANTS - Work closely with the art teacher with prepping of artwork throughout the year

CROSSING GUARD - Create schedule for volunteers for crossing guard duties

TISSUE TEA - Organize incoming Kindergarten parents’ small reception for starting day

LOST AND FOUND - Take pics of Lost & Found items and upload to website 

SCHOOL STORE - Purchase items & co-ordinate schedule for school store

FROGAPALOOZA CHAIR - Chair our signature spring fundraiser.  **Multiple people can do, so get friends together and help PTA make it a year to remember

The TCE PTA is currently looking for a VP of Grants and Giving for the 2012-2013 school year…  The responsibilities for this board position include working with a team to identify and submit grant proposals for the needs of our school, as well as seeking out corporate sponsors to support major fundraising efforts.  This VP will offer leadership and support to the team of volunteers, as well as attend monthly board meetings.  To inquire more about this valued position or to join the PTA team, please contact Donna Webb (donnajwebb3@gmail.com) or Kelly Elg (kelg@nc.rr.com) or Missy Laster (mlaster@wcpss.net).
