The Process

Session One

1. Read about the Tea Act: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/teaact.html

2. Open up the tea act chart. Go to the shared directory. Click on Third Grade, then Revolutionary War, and then act chart.

3. Fill in the reasons for the Tea Act.

 

Session Two

1. Open up the shared directory,third grade, Revolutionary War and watch the video clip about the Boston Tea Party.

2. Read about the Boston Tea Party: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/bostonteaparty.html

3. Open up the cause and effect chart. Go to the shared directory. Click on Third Grade, then Revolutionary War and then Boston Tea Party. Fill in the cause and effect chart and print it out.

 

Session Three: Intolerable Acts

1. Read about 5 more acts that Great Britain tried to enforce on the colonists. Click on: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/intolerable.html

2. Go the the shared directory, third grade, Revolutionary war and watch the video clip about the interable acts. Look up the definition of Intolerable at the website http://dictionary.reference.com/. Think about what it means.

3. Open up the document Intolerable Acts. Go to the shared directory, third grade, revolutionary war and then Intolerable Acts. Match the Acts to their description.

 

Session Four: First Continental Congress

1. Read about the First Continental Congress: : http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/1stcontcongress.html

2. Open the shared directory, third grade, Revolutionary War and watch the video clip about the Continental Congress.

2. Your teacher will give you a question sheet. Look up the word "grievances" at the website: http://dictionary.reference.com/

3. Answer the 2 questions on the sheet.

 

Session Five: The Shot Heard Around the World

1. Open up the shared directory, third grade, Revolutionary war and watch the video about the beginning of the Revolutionary War.(British Reaction to American)

2.   Read the information on the Minutemen: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/minutemen.html

3. Read about the Battle of Lexington and Concord: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/lexcon.html

4. Your teacher will give you a auestion sheet. Write down your answers to the questions and put your name on your paper.

     

Session Six: Declaration of Independence

  1. Read the information about the Declaration of Independence: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/declaration.html
  2. Watch the video clip about the principles of the Declaration of Independence. Using Ultimate Writing and Creativity Center, write 2 sentences about why the Declaration of Independence was important. Insert a picture to go with your sentences and print out your paper.

 

Session Seven:

  1. Read about the last battle that caused the colonists to have their freedom: http://www.alexandriacentral.org/cove/yorktown.html
  2. Open the shared directory, third grade, Revolutionary War and watch the video clip about the last battle.
  3. Write an explanation about how the Revolutionary War ended.



Evaluation

This webquest is part of your social studies grade. You need to make sure you are turning in your work as they get done.



Conclusion

You have now learned all about Revolutionary War! You will have come up with reasons that the colonists were upset and they rebelled, what Great Britain did wrong, and some events during the war!
